What
differences are there in
|
|
Other than the brakes and their associated hardware, The Spiffire and GT6 have a
few other differences that must be noted. * The GT6 vertical uprights, which support the spindles and brake calipers are heavier duty than those of the Spitfire. Again it's a strength issue (more engine wieght, power). The lower trunnions, and upper ball joints are the same. * Obviously, the brake disk backplates are different. They match the larger brake rotors. * The front road springs are slightly longer on the GT6 and of a higher compression rating, but actually create a softer ride due the vehicle weight differences. * The suspension towers are different as well. The measurements across the width of the car from tower motor mount holes to tower motor mount holes is narrower on the GT6. So the towers need to be swapped or the GT6 engine will sit on the rack. * The steering rack and pinion were different ratios for the Spitfire and GT6. |

The coil springs of the GT6 are
heavier to handle the added weight
of the 6 cylinder in comparison to the 4 cylinder Spitfire.
Solution: Use the entire
front suspension from from the GT6.
